Ethereal Melodies
Ethereal Melodies was released by Dhwani Productions in 2007. This project was commissioned Musical Releases: by Dr. Kamala Shankar of the Shiva-Vishnu Temple in Livermore, CA as an anthology of musical pieces for physical and spiritual healing. Cultures throughout the world have proclaimed the ability of music to balance and unite the powerful forces that form our lives. Modern studies have demonstrated that music has profound physiological effects – it can stimulate deeper breathing, increase serotonin levels, reduce heart rate and blood pressure, and induce relaxation. In Ethereal Melodies, listeners are invited to rekindle their energy through the joyful syncopation of musical instruments, and imbibe the tranquility of gentle, massaging melodies. Tiger and Silk
Tiger and Silk was released by Dhwani Productions in 2002. It features Srikanth Chary and Akhilesh Sista on Veena, Shriram Brahmanandam on Mridangam and Kanjira and Ravindra Bharathi on Ghatam. Energy and elegance are interwoven in this instrumental performance - a portrayal of the power of Carnatic music, while emphasizing its delicacy and subtlety. Like a majestic tiger treading lightly and gracefully over silken tapestries, the musical instruments in this performance create a vivid image - the heavy classicism of Indian music interplaying with light and lively improvisation. The pieces here have been specially chosen to contrast light and heavy moods, sometimes juxtaposing them, sometimes portraying them simultaneously. The veena, an ancient South Indian musical instrument, is an ideal medium to portray a myriad of sensations and emotions. The percussion instruments accentuate this aura. Contents of this compact disc are: 1. Varnam, Tilang, Adi, Srikanth Chary 2. Eti Yochanalu, Keernavali, Adi, Thyagaraja 3. Sivakama Sundari, Jaganmohini, Rupakam, Gopalakrishna Bharathi 4.
